Many legends have tales of giant turtles or tortoises. Using images of a castle that sits along the Danube River in Austria (Schloss Schonbuhel), and combining them with images of a tortoise, dolphins, the ocean, waterfalls, and greenery, I created this moving kingdom. The turtle wades through the ocean, alongside it’s dolphin companions, as the castle and foliage sit on the tortoise’s back.

In this image I wanted to create the scene of a Tsunami hitting a large city block, the moment before it sweeps someone away. I combine images from a city street, a huge wave, and a person. The buildings are meant to look post-apocalyptic. I used filters and shading to make the buildings appear vacant and gutted, transparency and filters to create the illusion of the wave crashing into the street, and a simple image of a man standing with his back to the camera.

Many young children imagine themselves being mythical beings at some age. This young girl told me many times that she turned into a mermaid in whenever she was in the water. She developed quite a few very imaginative stories about her adventures at sea. Combining images of waterfalls, splashes, a dolphin, the tail of a fish, the girl, an old woman, a picture frame, and an old, abandoned building, I created photographic evidence of her aquatic form.

Here is one of my first Photoshop projects. In this image, I created the illusion of a shark bursting out of a painting of the ocean in a picture frame. The images I combine in this photo are the picture frame, a shark jumping out of the water, waterfalls, and splashes. I used a stylized filter and transparency over a layer containing a simple dark blue rectangle to create the water.
